Who is Attorney Dave Risk?Minneapolis, Minnesota Drunk Driving Defense Information
Minneapolis, MN Attorney Dave Risk has spent the last 25 years defending people charged with DWI. He graduated 7th in his law class of over 300 attorneys. Not only does he have a well-respected and award-winning legal mind, Dave also has a wealth of experience. Dave started representing people on DWIs and other offenses as a student attorney before he graduated from law school. By the time he passed the bar exam (with flying colors on his first attempt) Dave had already represented more than 3,000 clients. That is a full career for many attorneys, but it was merely the beginning of Dave’s career.
After seven years working in the public defender’s office, Dave moved into private practice with a focus on DWIs. He became certified to operate the previous breath testing device used in Minnesota (Intoxilyzer 5000 EN). He was also actively involved in the litigation that led to Minnesota’s decision to scrap the prior device and switch manufacturers to get a whole new breath testing device in place. Dave then became certified to operate the new instrument (DataMaster DMT-G with fuel cell option) which remains in use in Minnesota today. Dave’s technical knowledge has led to many victories in the courtroom as well as blistering cross examinations of the State’s experts and the police officers operating the DataMaster DMT-G.
After twenty-five years of experience in DWI defense, Dave has earned his excellent reputation and as a result his peers have named him a “Super Lawyer” or “Rising Star” more than 15 times. He is also the past President of the Minnesota Society for Criminal Justice, a group consisting of the State’s top 50 DWI Defense Attorneys. Although Dave also defends much more serious crimes such as criminal sexual conduct and first-degree murder, he remains devoted to helping people who have been ensnared in the difficult situation of a DWI arrest.
